Academic Services

What I offer

First and foremost, I promise that every client will receive my individual attention. I do not ‘farm out’ work, ever. My goal is always to build professional and effective client relationships based on honesty, loyalty, kindness, compassion, and patience.

I have over 12 years experience in academic editing; additionally my work has been published in well-respected academic journals. I specialize in clear and effective communication of complex ideas and concepts, as well as in research and analysis. I am passionate about lifelong learning, and believe in working with people where they are, as they are. The starting point doesn’t matter, what matters is where we end up.

As an academic consultant, my clients benefit from my expertise in academic research, writing, editing, teaching, curriculum assessment and advising.

Academic editing

I specialize in editing and revising academic papers in the social sciences and humanities. Depending on your requirements, I can provide anything from simple proofreading for such things as grammar, spelling and syntax, to full rewrites with additional research as needed.

My background is in politics, philosophy, and environmental studies, but I have worked extensively in economics and social geography and can work with most social science and humanities subjects.

My clients are typically university instructors looking to improve journal submissions, as well as business managers, professional writers, and translators. I have a great deal of experience working with clients for whom English is an additional language.

For students

First of all - I will not write your paper for you.

With that said - even the very best students occasionally need a little extra guidance. I can help you to clarify your research statement or question and create a sound structure for your paper, whether it’s a five-page essay or a 200+ page dissertation.

I will also work with you on research - how and where to find good articles (and how to evaluate them), how to “read for information” and write summaries, create literature trees, track down that one elusive source, or interpret and collate your research.

Whether you are just starting out on your academic path, returning to academia as an older student, or getting close to the finish line on your PhD, I offer individualized help based on your needs and schedule.

If cost is an issue, please contact me to discuss a reduced student rate.

Teaching and Learning

NEW!! ESL/IETLS lessons

I have recently completed my TESL qualification and am pleased to be able to offer both small group and individual lessons.

My main focus is academic English. However, I am happy to work with anyone at any stage in their English language learning, whether you are a complete beginner, or hoping to improve your conversational or business English.

Contact me to discuss your English language goals and we can set up a Zoom meeting to see how I can best be of assistance.
